WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades give you an increase in certain statistics. Each upgrade boosts the level of an item by 3. A random additional substat is also increased with every upgrade.

The more modernized gear generally has a higher trade value as long as it meets low requirements (like the FB sorc's shield) or very high stat variation (like the eth titan weapons). The latter are less valuable from upgrading due to the requirement to roll for a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader enables players to upgrade gear to a higher level by providing the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be made on any kind of armor or weapons. The item used to upgrade the item will be consumed and cannot be used again. Upgrades can be applied to the enchantments.

The upgrader is located in all major cities and can be visited anytime to upgrade your equipment. To keep your gear current it is recommended that you visit the upgrader each couple of weeks.

The cost of upgrading will depend on the current level of the equipment being upgraded, but will always be cheaper than buying new equipment from other sources. For instance, upgrading a Benthic chest piece to 385 levels will cost 20 recycle points, while buying a similar item from another player will cost 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used to upgrade tools, armor, weapon, and accessory upgrades. They are purchased by players from NPCs that sell upgrades to items in exchange for a variety of currencies, and can also be found in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade can be applied to any weapon, tool, or armor. button, which will display a preview of the item when it is upgraded when the player has enough materials.

The upgrade cost depends on the item slot and the current level of the item upgrader kit, with weapons costing more than gloves or bracers for instance. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones and a few crests, with some upgrades offering discounts to reduce the cost of the Flightstones or crests used. Once an item has been upgraded to a certain amount, it can be degraded and returned to the upgrader for a lesser amount of the two currency types.

Many locations offer item upgraders in addition to the main island and a few outposts. The NPCs offer an upgrade coupon as well as the chance to obtain a new recipe. The upgrade discount increases as more items are upgraded. It can be increased if players finish certain achievements or quests.

Unlike Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II there is no upgrader for items available at the start of Icewind Dale. The NPCs who can facilitate upgrades are available only through a variety means. This is both a benefit and an issue.

In Season 3, several new features have been added to the upgrade system. After a player has upgraded to a certain Item level Upgrade level for an armor slot, upgrading other items to the same item level will cost less. This applies even if the items come from a different set of equipment.

The amount of Valorstones required for upgrades is reduced, and the discount is affixed to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests required for upgrades is also cut and is not available until players reach certain achievement milestones.

Crests

Players have a variety of options for upgrading their gear in WoW. Flightstones are an option that is accessible to everyone for upgrading. Crests are more specific and are utilized during specific item level upgrades. Crests are an important part of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System that was introduced in version 10.1. They come in four ranks.

First, you must be aware that crests are only available for gear with a certain rank. Each rank has an upgrade path that is different. The simplest and most straightforward upgrade route costs 15 crests while the most complicated requires as many as 20 crests depending on the type of gear that is being upgraded.

Players can earn crests by completing content at the appropriate level. This could mean engaging in outdoor activities or doing dungeons or raids in any difficulty to earn lower-tier gear or Mythicbosses for raids, or dungeons with a heroic difficulty for endgame gear. These crests can then be exchanged at an item upgrade upgrader NPC, such as Cuzolth in Dornogal, or Vaskarn in Valdrakken, for the appropriate upgrade routes and steps.

The new currency system isn't complicated to use, but it brings some changes to the upgrade process. When a piece of equipment has reached the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer) it will no longer require Flightstones. This change is intended to allow players to get their equipment up to the highest possible ilvl for all their characters instead of relying on seasonal loot.

It's also essential to use crests in a wise manner, as they only have one use. It is best to use your Whelpling-rank crests on the top-quality equipment you can find, and save Drake and Wyrm Crests to be used for the next set of upgrades. This is particularly relevant for items like rings and trinkets that occupy several slots. The account-wide discount will only be applicable if all slots on the character are filled with top-quality gear.
