15 Reasons Why You Shouldn t Be Ignoring Item Upgrade
WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader
Upgrades provide a guaranteed boost to specific stats. Each upgrade increases item level by 3. Each upgrade also boosts a random substat.
The upgraded gear is usually more useful, unless the item is not required by nature (like FB sorc shields) or a high stat variance (like eth Titan weapons). Upgrades are not as important for the latter due to the requirement to roll a perfect version.
Recycle Points
The item upgrade upgrader lets players upgrade their gear by transferring the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of armor or weapons. The item used to upgrade the item will be consumed and can't be used again. Upgrades can be applied to Enchantments.
The upgrader can be found in all major cities and can be accessed at any time to upgrade items your gear. It is recommended that you visit the upgrader every couple of weeks to keep your equipment up to date.
The cost of upgrading will depend on the current item level of the equipment being upgraded, but will always be cheaper than buying new equipment from other sources. Upgrades such as upgrading a Benthic chest to 385 ilvl will cost you 20 recycle points. A similar item will cost you 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are items that can be used for tools, armor, weapon, and accessory upgrades. They can be purchased by players from item upgraders NPCs in a variety of currencies. They can also find them in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade is able to be used on any weapon, tool, or armor. button, which will display a preview of the item upgrading level upgrade - get redirected here - when it is upgraded when the player has enough materials.
Upgrade costs differ based on the slot for the item and the current level of the item. For instance weapons are more expensive than bracers, or gloves. Each upgrade costs 15 Flightstones and a number of crests, with certain upgrades having a discount to lower the cost of Flightstones or crests that are used. Once an item is upgraded to a certain amount, it can be degraded and sold back to the upgrader for a lesser amount of the two currency types.
Upgraders for items are available at many locations, including the main island as well as some outposts. The NPCs offer both an upgrade coupon and the chance to obtain a new recipe. The upgrade discount increases with the number of items being upgraded. It is also possible to be boosted by requiring players to complete specific achievements or complete quests.
Icewind Dale does not have an item upgrader at beginning, unlike Cromwell from Baldur's Gate II. The NPCs who can facilitate upgrades are available only through a variety of methods. This is both a benefit as well as an issue.
In Season 3, several new features were added to the upgrade system. Once a player obtains an upgrade to a particular level of an item for a specific armor slot, upgrading other items to that same item upgrade level will cost less even in the event that they are part of another set of gear.
The discount is available to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests needed for upgrades is reduced also, but is only available after certain milestones are achieved.
Crests
Players have several options when it comes to upgrading their equipment in WoW. Flightstones are a currency that is available to everyone for upgrading. Crests are more specialized, and are used during specific item level upgrades. Crests are an essential part of the Dragonflight gear progression system, which was introduced in 10.1, and come in 4 ranks.
The first thing to be aware of is that crests are only able to be used to purchase gear of a specific rank, and that each rank has different requirements for upgrading. The simplest and easiest upgrade costs 15 crests. The most complicated upgrade requires up to 20 crests, depending on the kind of gear that is being upgraded.
Players can obtain crests by finishing content at the appropriate level, whether that involves walking around and performing outdoor activities for lower-tier gear, dungeons or raids of all difficulties for higher-tier items, or Mythic+ heroic raid bosses and dungeons for endgame gear. These crests are then exchanged with an upgrader for the item such as Cuzolth or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to upgrade the item in the proper steps and routes.
The new currency system isn't difficult to use, however it does bring some modifications to the upgrade process. When a piece of equipment reaches the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer) it will no longer require Flightstones. This change is intended to allow players to get their equipment up to the highest level possible for all their characters rather than relying solely on seasonal loot.
Another significant change is that crests have one use and it's crucial to use them properly. For instance it's a good idea use all of your Whelpling-rank crests on the top equipment you have and then keep Drake and Wyrm crests to use for the next set of upgrades you're planning to make. This is especially applicable to rings and trinkets that take up multiple slots on the character, which can only be eligible to benefit from the account-wide discount when all of the slots are filled with high-quality equipment.
